Seasons change and so must I. When the old way just doesn’t work anymore, it’s time for a new way. That’s why I created A New BMI.

Fall is my favorite season of the year. Every time it comes around I feel inspired. Breathtaking color, cool refreshing evenings, along with just the right amount of sunshine, make the anticipation of winter a little less dreadful. Nature is about to make a dramatic shift, but for now, I’m totally ok with it.

Face it. Change is inevitable. Progress requires change and sometimes we see it coming and sometimes it hits us like a ton of bricks. So fair warning… change is on its way… as inevitable as winter following autumn.

It is time for A New BMI. I developed this concept because I became so frustrated with the continued measurement and evaluation of health with such an inadequate tool as Body Mass Index.

I am confounded by the message that weight loss is the path to health when attempts to lose weight fail 95% of the time.

There is a path to health that is far superior to weight loss. It begins with awareness and is sustained through appreciation and care for the physical body.

I created A New BMI to help those who feel trapped in their physical body. As an exercise physiologist who values the human body, it disturbs me greatly when I hear people say they feel “betrayed” by the body, or that the body feels like it “doesn’t belong to me anymore.”

The greatest step towards health requires attention to the body and to the thoughts and feelings you have about your physical self. Our health is a direct result of our thoughts. If you have an “unhealthy” relationship with your body, your health is likely to suffer. A positive attitude and a positive approach to the body leads to feeling better. It just makes sense.

Focus upon weight loss instead of fostering a healthy relationship with the body and you completely miss the point. What kind of message are you sending to your body when you try to lose weight? Are you wishing it would just go away or are you making an effort to provide the body with what it needs to be healthy?

A New BMI fosters a positive, healthy relationship with the body. A New BMI is Body Mind Intelligence. If you are paying attention, your body has the wisdom to show you exactly what it needs as long as you are willing to listen. Care for the body and it takes care of you in return.

To introduce this concept, I have developed an eight week program called Body Mind Intentions, a guide to feeling better without focusing on weight loss. Learn more about A New BMI at www.anewbmi.com. Join me today. Receive your first lesson from A New BMI free.

It’s time for a change. It’s time for a revolution. It’s time for A New BMI.
